Tanglewood’s Dr. Mouton Celebrates Milestone Anniversary

David Mouton, MD, Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Co-Managing Physician at Tanglewood Clinic, celebrated 50 years at Kelsey-Seybold in late July.

“I have known Dr. Mouton since I started at Kelsey-Seybold 21 years ago,” said Victor Simms, MD, MPH, FACP, Associate Medical Director of Clinic Operations. “He has brought not only leadership, but also stability. He helped build the Tanglewood Clinic.”

Dr. Mouton joined Kelsey-Seybold in 1972 when the clinic was still located on Fannin Street in the medical center. Later, Dr. Mouton was one of the first doctors to move his practice to Tanglewood Clinic, formerly West Clinic. Tanglewood Clinic has doubled in size over the years, Dr. Mouton said.

“It has been gratifying to watch Kelsey-Seybold become part of the community,” said Dr. Mouton.

“I was the 29th doctor to join Kelsey-Seybold – that was several hundred doctors ago. The educational experiences from the people I’ve meet and worked with have added a lot of excitement to my career.  You get closer with your patients. You become more than doctor and patient; you become friends,” said Dr. Mouton, who has worked with some of Kelsey-Seybold’s most high-profile patients over the years.

Carla Franklin-McQueen, Director of Ambulatory Care, said she has come to view Dr. Mouton as a friend over the 15 years she has worked with him.

“It has truly been my pleasure and one of my greatest opportunities at Kelsey Seybold to work with Dr. Mouton. As a managing physician, Dr. Mouton is very supportive of Kelsey-Seybold’s goals,” Carla said. “He is motivated to improve the care we provide to our patients and works hard to maintain a culture of caring for our employees, too. He’s just a great guy.”
